Tip 25 — Target the non-dominant hip to jam extension
Most players naturally rotate toward their dominant side when tracking a ball through the middle, inadvertently creating a mechanical blind spot on their off hip. When you recognize an opponent shading toward the center to protect their forehand, resist the urge to go wide. Instead, redirect your next shot directly at their non-dominant hip.
This specific placement forces an awkward mechanical compromise. Your opponent cannot cleanly step into the ball or extend their arm for a comfortable strike. They are forced to either jam themselves with a cramped backhand chicken-wing or execute an emergency off-balance paddle reset from a compromised position.
By targeting this rotational dead zone, you deny them the space required to generate pace or control direction. Decode their positional bias, identify the hip that limits their rotation, and feed that seam consistently until they pop up a neutral ball you can attack.
