Tip 09 — Use the reset to break their momentum

When opponents start driving every ball with pace, the instinct is often to swing back harder. Decode their intent instead. They are trying to speed up the tempo to force an error before you establish position. Your counter isn't more power, but a deadening block that absorbs their energy and drops softly into the kitchen.

Executing a reset requires softening your wrist at contact and pushing the ball downward rather than driving it forward. Think of it as catching the ball on your paddle face and placing it gently on the other side of the net. The lower you keep the contact point, the harder it is for them to attack again.

By successfully resetting a fast-paced rally, you neutralize their advantage and reset the geometry of the point. They went for a winner and got a neutral dink. That psychological shift turns their aggression back against them, forcing them to generate offense from a defensive posture.
