Tip 04 — A deeper serve buys you a slower game

A serve that lands short gives your opponent time to step in and attack early. A serve that lands deep, near the baseline, pushes them back and buys you an extra half-second before the point speeds up.

That half-second matters more than it sounds. It's the difference between recovering into position after your serve and still being caught mid-stride when the return comes back.

You don't need more pace to get more depth — aim your toss and contact point so the ball's natural arc carries it deep, rather than muscling it. A serve you can repeat under pressure beats a serve that only lands in on your best swings.
